Surace, Jeff

Born in Media Pennsylvania in 1971, Jeff Surace learned at an early age how drawing was the perfect vehicle for wasting time. It was a natural action that became handy when his education began. Instead of studying, he would procrastinate through his drawings. Though, this process worried his parents, it would eventually create a purpose and drive for art that would stay with him to this day.

After graduating from college as an illustrator in 1993, he began several different careers from architectural renderings to creating greeting cards. Surace became a student of art techniques and theories. In 2000, he implemented what he learned into a series of abstract wall sculptures created from found objects. For a time in 2003, he opened part of his studio as a gallery. From there he learned how art through teaching and exhibiting could offer strength and support to a community. “I enjoyed the connection to so many different people with one great thing in common, Art.” Jeff welcomes the opportunity to show and create again through Surace Art Studios (28 Winters St.). Surace has his art exhibited in major galleries and private collections throughout the U.S.
