ARTIST STATEMENT:
My heart stirs within me compelling me to come, do the work….. Draw, paint, and create images conveying beauty and truth. Representational art is my passion. Transparent watercolor, oil, and charcoal are the media through which I make visible the invisible, communicating soul and emotion with precision detail.
I paint from the inside out. I firmly believe that the source of my creativity is my thought world. Though I work quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques, the end result is the product of my inner thought life which flows through my fingers into the external world.
I have pursued my passion for painting the human form in transparent watercolor for more than twenty years. Recently, I’ve learned that contrary to conventional belief, oil paint can have the same watercolor properties of transparency and freshness, which I find so captivating, while also granting the liberty of correction. My new found love of oil painting propels me to explore new subjects to paint whereby I can fulfill my calling to work with my hands, serving God and my neighbors by being an artist.
