McGlamery, Betty
Many of my paintings reflect the rural life that I knew growing up on a small South Georgia farm. I came to love the woods surrounding the farm. It was there among the trees, especially the massive and majestic ancient Live Oaks that I would spend many hours daydreaming. They were always there, rock-solid and never changing. Even though I have been long gone from the farm, I still miss the Live Oaks. We come from the same dirt and our roots are interconnected. I feel as much a part of them as they are of the Deep South. It is this connection to the South and particularly Georgia that give me my identity. As an artist, I am on a mission to capture in oil and acrylic paintings, my interpretations of scenes of southern gardens, farms, small towns and trees, particularly the Live Oak.
