Hulsey-Borchich, Evette
J. Evette Hulsey-Borchich
Appreciation of great art is a learned process. Evolving from a primitive to a fine art painter has become my life’ s pursuit. When Michelangelo was 87 years old, he was attributed with saying “ I am still learning.” As I study more portrait artists of the past and present, my appetite for more painting skills and techniques expands. Achieving a likeness is only a small part of a good portrait. To Capture the eyes is to capture a subject’s personality and a glimpse into their soul. Perhaps too, a small moment in time is recorded for generations to come. In my still
life work, I prefer to incorporate flowers because the blooms develop like faces with many facets, shadows and color changes.
My background has taken me from an extensive career in accounting and finance to an artist and world traveler. Now that I have the time to pursue my passions, I can focus on
painting. Just as the old masters have done, I continue to study with the talented artists of today to improve my skills.
