Gore, Shirley
Shirley Gore is known throughout Georgia for her realistic oil paintings featuring historic landmarks, especially those found in Cobb County including the Lost Mountain Store, Marietta Courthouse and the Concord Covered Bridge in Smyrna. Shirley took painting classes with Ann Cockerill in the early 1980's and credits Ann's instruction with reigniting a childhood interest in painting. Her skill was perfected under the tutelage of Robert Meredith during the mid 1990's when he taught a class in oil painting at his studio. For almost 20 years Shirley exhibited her paintings annually at the South Cobb Arts Alliance spring and fall art festivals and also the Art in the Park fine art festival each Labor Day on the Square in Marietta. Retiring from the art festivals in 1996, Shirley now enjoys painting in her home studio and relaxing with her husband Luke Frank Gore, retired Cobb County attorney.
Shirley Gore is represented by The Red Cockerill Gallery in Austell, Georgia.
