Many creatives utilize art to explorer and voice ideas and/or feelings which are important to them. Topics can range anywhere from political, to social, to spiritual. Although I have worked in different mediums, I have found myself repeatedly drawn to mixed media for the very same reasons; a desire, a need, to express myself. I have even discovered the healing powers found in creating works.
My love for art began at the age of three when my mother, an elementary school teacher, bought me an easel, some paints and my first set of brushes. She set it all up on the screened-in-porch of the duplex where we lived and she instructed me to use my imagination. I have been fascinated by the endless possibilities of art ever since.
Artistic influences on my journey include Ruth Palmer, Laurie Maitland, Don Li-Leger and Alfred Gockel. I have been mentored by artists Michael Wood and Fonda Clark Haight; to whom I will always be grateful. Presently, I am a member of the North Cobb Arts League (NCAL) and actively involved in Gallery 4463.
