Angell, Eliot Joanna
South Carolina artist, Eliot Joanna Angell was born in Savannah, Georgia and grew up drawing and pinching clay pots in her mother’s studio. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English from Drew University and a MFA in Printmaking from the University of Georgia with a concentration in Lithography. Her Masters professor was Charles Morgan.
While at the University of Georgia, Joanna studied Ceramics with Ron Meyers, and clay has been her primary medium since.
She has studied and assisted in various workshops at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina where she also volunteers every Summer.
Joanna lives and works in downtown Walterboro, South Carolina where she and her daughter share a studio and gallery. She teaches classes and workshops for the Colleton County Arts Council and exhibits her work throughout the Southeast.
Her ceramics, paintings, and prints are in private, corporate, and public collections.
