Biographical Sketch
Award winning artist, Ann Brannon Cockerill has painted since the age of four. She was born in Austell on the same street where her gallery is now located. At the age of 19, she graduated cum laude with a degree in art from LaGrange College where she met and married Bill Cockerill.
The State of Georgia commissioned her to paint four life size portraits for the Old Capitol in Milledgeville to hang in the Legislative Chamber. The portraits were of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Ogelthorpe, and Marquis de LaFayette. Because of her interest in history, local landmarks have always been one of her favorite subjects.
The Atlanta Dogwood Festival chose her painting of Piedmont Park for their art-poster. She has won many awards including Best of Show in the “Spirit de France” at Chateau Elan. Her painting of Kennesaw Mountain was included in “The Spirit of America Exhibition from Winslow Homer to Andrew Wyeth” that toured museums through out the nation.
She frequently travels to Europe to paint the ancient buildings, beautiful countryside and to be inspired by the incredible museums. Ann also is a corporate and residential art consultant and teaches art classes.
